Wear Red

In 2006, the University began a formal Wear Red Day celebration, which is the annual “kick-off” of the tradition of wearing red every Friday.

Each year, as part of this celebration, the University sponsors a contest for students, faculty, businesses, alumni and fans. On Wear Red Day—which is usually the Friday before the start of the college football season—individuals and groups of fans take photos of themselves Wearing Red and submit the photos to the University. In the past, entries have been sent in from several U.S. states, Canada, France and even Afghanistan.

Past Wear Red celebrations have included the dedication of Rex Street on campus as Wear Red Avenue and the launch of the official University class ring.
