Internal Mass Communications
The Office of Communications and Marketing drafts and distributes internal mass communications according to the University's Internal Mass Communications Policy. The policy consolidates and streamlines University communications, increases efficiency, and ensures targeted, tailored, and consistent messaging to all students and faculty and staff members. View the Internal Mass Communications Policy on the University Policies website.
Announcements that are sent to the campus community should be:
- University or college-related or sponsored by a college-affiliated club or organization.
- Related to the mission or business of the University.
- Applicable to a large segment of the University community.
Announcements to all employees (i.e., staff and faculty members) are generally aggregated into one email and sent weekly on Tuesdays. Announcements to all students or all faculty members are sent on an as-needed basis.
To request an announcement for all students, staff, and/or faculty, you can complete the form here or email communications@louisiana.edu.
You can send a written announcement to OCM or you can send bullets of the details and OCM will draft the announcement for you to review and approve. Please consider including the following details.
- Preferred release date,
- Intended audience,
- Who the message is from, e.g., office or department name,
- What the announcement is about,
- Location,
- Date and time along with any deadlines,
- Email address for questions or more information, and
- Website link for more information.
If you aren't sure where to start, OCM can help. Send an email to communications@louisiana.edu.
In addition to sending the announcement, OCM can help decide other ways to communicate the requested message, e.g., campus digital signs, social media, etc. Learn how to publicize and promote your event here.
